Our Feedlots

With our 6 feedlot sites we are Australia’s largest feedlot operator having a one-time feeding capacity of 162,000 head of cattle and 40,000 lambs. Benchmarking between these sites and the integrated business model where livestock are only processed at JBS Australia plants has lead JBS feedlots to a culture of excellence focusing on food safety, animal welfare, environmental responsibility and customer satisfaction. This is enhanced by our teams at each site embracing and applying processes and approaches that they have developed. As a result, JBS Australia’s feedlots have won many prestigious awards. Most recently Beef City, Mungindi, Caroona and Prime City were four of the five “Feedlot of the Year” finalists with Prime City successfully winning this award for an unprecedented fifth time. The integrated Beef City business was also successful in winning the “Premier of Queensland's Export Award – Agribusiness”, “Premier of Queensland's Export Award – Exporter of the Year” and at the National Export Finals “Australian Export Awards – Agribusiness”. These successes recognise the consistency of JBS Australia’s grainfed business both through the years and between all sites resulting in long term relationships with customers in over 35 countries.

JBS Australia’s feedlots are strategically located in the major east coast grain producing regions giving them access to the highest quality feed commodities. These locations also enable supply of superior feeder cattle from all Australian states with cattle able to be fed at the feedlot that most suits customer and plant requirements. Couple these supply chains with stringent quality testing procedures, (both nutritional and residue), and it is clear why JBS has great success in meeting customers’ expectations.

All of these results are achieved through our people and JBS Australia is very proud of the excellent Feedlot teams. Many of our highly trained staff have been recognised for achievements within the Feedlot industry. Today JBS Australia boasts 3 team members who are winners of the nationally contested “Young Lot Feeder Achiever Award”, 6 graduates of the MLA industry development course and significant numbers of people who have participated in MLA and ALFA external training. All staff have completed the extensive internal training relative to their involvement in the JBS business. There continues to be opportunities within JBS feedlots, (and potentially through all of the JBS business), for existing and new members to grow and develop as part of the JBS Australia Feedlots team.
