Operating in 100% of the world's consumer markets and with production capacity in the four main beef producing countries (Brazil, Argentina, USA and Australia), JBS is the largest exporter in this sector, the world's leader in slaughter capacity - 47,100 head of cattle per day, the largest Brazilian multinational food company, and also achieved a remarkable status in the pork market after the acquisition of Swift & Company. JBS's management is characterized by its entrepreneurial spirit. The company was the first to enter the meat packing sector in Brazil. Due to its strategic vision, determination and a policy of expansion JBS went international in 2005 with the acquisition of Swift Argentina. It was the first to go public in this segment in 2007. After the acquisition of Swift Foods and Company in the United States, JBS stands out as the world's largest company in the beef protein sector and the third largest pork producer and processor in the USA.
JBS now owns Production Plants in the USA-three pork processing plants, four beef processing plants and one meat slicing plant. In Australia it has ten plants and five feedlots. The efforts towards modernization, growth and well-being of partners, clients, employees and consumers, together with the satisfaction of its shareholders characterize a corporate management deeply concerned with social responsibility and environmental issues.
The company is in constant evolution. After reorganizing its business segments, JBS ceased to be a limited liability company to become a corporation. Its name was changed from Friboi to JBS, the initials of the founder, José Batista Sobrinho. Today, the brands are independent, but the fresh meat products will keep the name Friboi because of its high credibility and brand recall both in the domestic and the international markets.
